About Us

istatistiksel.com is a free data platform founded against the idea that numbers should stay in the hands of a few experts. Our aim is to make data accessible, understandable and comparable for everyone.

Why does this platform exist?

There is no real shortage of public data in Türkiye; it is scattered. An inflation series sits in one institution's table, population data in another one's bulletin, education statistics in the archive of a third site. More often than not, files are waiting to be downloaded, units to be converted, years to be aligned. Answering a simple question — say, “where does this city stand next to its neighbour” — can turn into half a day's work.

We are trying to remove that friction. Without changing the data itself, we make it findable, readable and possible to place side by side. Whether it is a student's homework, a journalist's story, a shopkeeper's pricing decision or simply someone's evening curiosity, we want the same source to be a few seconds away.

Four sections, four different needs

The platform is made up of four main sections that complement one another. Each answers a different question:

  • Calculate: 124 free tools, from loan instalments to body mass index, from hypothesis tests to percentage change. They all run in the browser, and their formulas and assumptions are written out openly on the page.
  • Data: A data centre compiled from official sources. Population, the economy, education, health and more; every series is presented together with its source, its period and its update date.
  • Compare: Comparison screens that place cities and countries side by side on the same scale. Pick two provinces or two countries and see the difference between them at a glance.
  • Analyse: The section where you bring your own data. Your CSV or Excel file is processed entirely in your browser; descriptive statistics, distributions and correlations are computed without your file leaving your device.

Our principles for data rigour

The only real capital a data platform has is its credibility. That is why we hold to four principles when we produce content:

  • Official sources come first. Where an official or institutional source exists for a figure, we do not use secondary compilations. When the same indicator differs between two institutions, we write that down instead of hiding it.
  • Source, period and update date on every page. A number should not be trusted before you can see which institution it came from, which period it covers and when it was last updated. We state these three facts openly on every page that shows data.
  • Transparent methodology. In the calculators, the formula used, the assumptions made and the rounding behaviour are explained on the page. If you cannot see how a result was produced, you are under no obligation to use it.
  • Open to error reports. We can be wrong. When you see an incorrect value, an outdated period or a broken source link, we want you to write to us; we publish the correction and refresh the update date.

A full list of the institutions and publications we use is collected on the Data Sources page (in Turkish).

Our commitment to free use without registration

Every calculator, data page and comparison screen on the platform is free. There is no membership, you do not need to open an account, and we do not ask for your email address. Using a tool will not run you into a “sign up to continue” wall, and you will not be sent to a payment page to see the result.

When you analyse your own data, your file is not uploaded to our servers; the processing happens on your device and nothing is left behind once you close the page. For us this is not a technical preference but a basic stance: a user's data belongs to that user.

Get in touch

To report an error, suggest a missing data series or ask for a new tool, you can write to us at the address on the Contact page (in Turkish). What the platform looks like today was shaped in large part by exactly this kind of feedback from users.

This site is published by the operator of istatistiksel.com. Our only address for correspondence is the email address iletisim@istatistiksel.com.
