Cookie Policy
This page explains which cookies and local storage entries are used on istatistiksel.com, which of them depend on your consent, and how you can change your preferences.
What are cookies and local storage?
A cookie is a small text file that a website leaves in your browser. What distinguishes cookies is that they are sent to the server automatically with every request you make to that site. This is why they are used for purposes such as session management and advertising tracking.
Local storage (localStorage), on the other hand, is a key-value store that your browser keeps within itself. What is held there is not sent to the server on its own; it is only of use when the code on the page reads it and, where needed, acts on it. The difference matters: a preference held in local storage stays with you for as long as you stay on that device, and it is not visible to us.
Essential entries
The only entry kept for the site's core functions is your theme preference. When you choose light or dark mode, that choice is written to your browser's local storage under the key “tema” (Turkish for “theme”), and its value amounts to nothing more than whether the mode is light or dark. It makes sure the page arrives in the right colors the moment it opens on your next visit.
By the distinction described above, this is not a cookie: it is not sent to the server, it does not identify you, and it cannot be linked to advertising. That is why we do not ask for separate consent for it. If you want to delete it, clearing your browser's site data is enough; the only consequence is that the theme returns to its default setting.
Analytics cookies only with consent
Cookies and scripts that measure visit statistics do not run unless you give explicit consent. If you do not give consent, the measurement code is never loaded onto the page; no identifier is generated. If you do give consent, the data collected is anonymous and consists of aggregate indicators such as page views, referring address and device type. We use this data only to see which tools are useful and to keep an eye on the site's speed. Withholding analytics consent does not restrict any feature of the site.
Advertising cookies
The site shows advertisements so that it can remain free. Ads are served through Google AdSense: on phones and tablets in the strip at the bottom of the page, and on wide screens in the columns to the right and left of the content. Ad slots are not placed in the middle of the content and do not cover up calculation results.
Google may set its own cookies in order to display the ad and to count how many times it has been shown. These cookies are not under our control; they are subject to Google's own privacy notice, and we cannot read their contents.
Personalization depends on your consent and is off by default. Until you give consent, Google is told that ad storage is denied; in that case ads are shown contextually, that is, without tracking you and without building an interest profile. If you give consent, ads may be personalized; you can withdraw your consent at any time (see the “Withdrawing consent” section below).
You can read how Google uses advertising cookies, and how to change the ad settings on your own account, in Google's advertising technologies policy.
Managing cookies from your browser
Whichever consent you have given, you can always manage or delete cookies from your browser's own settings. The general directions are as follows:
- Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies. To delete the data of a particular site, follow Settings → Privacy and security → Delete browsing data.
- Safari: Safari menu → Settings → Privacy. From there you can block cross-site tracking and delete the records of individual sites with “Manage Website Data”. On iPhone and iPad, the Safari section of the Settings app does the same job.
- Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data. By moving Enhanced Tracking Protection to the “Strict” level you can block many tracking cookies from the outset.
- Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies and site data. The tracking prevention level is set from the same section.
Menu names may differ as browser versions change; you can find the most up-to-date instructions on your browser's official help page. For Chrome, for example, Google's cookie help page can be a starting point.
Withdrawing consent
You can take back the consent you have given at any moment. Clicking the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer of every page is enough; your saved decision is deleted and the preference notice opens again. If you prefer, you can also reset the consent record by deleting this site's data from your browser. Withdrawing consent does not remove the anonymous aggregate statistics collected in the past; going forward, however, measurement stops and ads are once again shown without personalization and without tracking you.
For a complete account of how data is processed you can read the Privacy Policy page, and you can send your questions to the operator of istatistiksel.com at iletisim@istatistiksel.com.
