Age Calculator

Date & TimeLast updated: August 17, 2026

Calculating an age means expressing the span between two dates in calendar years, months, and days. It looks simple, but month lengths (28 to 31 days) and leap years make it easy to get wrong by hand; this calculator follows the calendar rules and gives an exact answer.

Enter your date of birth and you get your age in years, months, and days, plus your total age in days, weeks, and months. The calculator also tells you how many days are left until your next birthday and which day of the week you were born on. Change the calculation date to find your age on any past or future date — a start date at work, an exam application, or any age cut-off.

Select the day, month, and year you were born.
Today's date is used by default; change it to see your age on a different date.

Formula

Years = calculation year − birth year (one less if the birthday has not come yet)
Months and days = the remaining span, using real calendar month lengths
Total days = the actual number of days between the two dates (leap years included)

The common mistake is treating age as the difference in years alone: if this year's birthday has not arrived yet, one year has to be subtracted. Someone born in November 1990, for example, is 35 in August 2026 — not 36.

How to Calculate

  1. Select your date of birth: day, month, and year.
  2. The calculation date defaults to today; pick a different date if you need one.
  3. Read your age in years, months, and days, along with your total days and weeks, in the results section.
  4. Check how many days are left until your next birthday and which day of the week you were born on.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is age calculated?
The date of birth is subtracted from the calculation date. The difference in years is taken first, and one year is removed if the birthday has not yet occurred that year. The remainder is expressed in months and days using real calendar lengths. This calculator applies all of those corrections automatically.
Why is my total day count different from years × 365?
Because leap years have 366 days. The calculator counts the actual number of days between the two dates on the calendar, so the result can be several days more than multiplying the number of years by 365.
How is age calculated for someone born on February 29?
Since February 29 does not exist in non-leap years, this calculator treats the next birthday as March 1. The years-months-days breakdown is worked out with the normal calendar rules, so there is no ambiguity in the age itself.
Can I see my age on a past or future date?
Yes. Enter the date you need in the calculation date field and the calculator shows your age on that date. This is useful whenever an age on a specific date matters: a start date at work, retirement, or an exam application.
Which age counts for official procedures?
In Turkey, official procedures go by completed age: turning 18 means your 18th birthday has passed. The 'years' value in this calculator is exactly that completed age.
How do I find out which day of the week I was born on?
The 'The day you were born' row in the results shows which day of the week (Monday through Sunday) your date of birth fell on. For any other date, use the Day of the Week calculator.
