Mexico: Population and Key Statistics
With 130.9 million people, Mexico is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world. Having overtaken China in 2023 to become the largest trading partner of the United States, and helped by the USMCA free trade agreement, the country has become one of the hubs of the North American supply chain in automotive and electronics manufacturing.
Counted among the main winners of the trend toward shifting production out of China and closer to home (nearshoring), Mexico is also the world's second-largest recipient of worker remittances after India: the more than 60 billion dollars sent home each year by Mexicans living abroad is one of the economy's major sources of income.
Military Strength
Expenditure figures come from SIPRI and personnel counts from the IISS, both distributed through the World Bank. Source years differ by indicator, so each figure is shown with its own year.
How Mexico compares
The indicators use different scales, so the chart is a rough visual comparison only. For exact figures see the full side-by-side comparison.
