Fuel Consumption Calculator
Fuel consumption is the amount of fuel a vehicle burns over 100 kilometers, and L/100km is the standard unit in Turkey and across Europe. The lower the figure, the more economical the car. Its inverse, km/L, tells you how many kilometers you can drive on one liter of fuel.
This calculator works out your car's real consumption from the fuel you put in the tank and the distance you covered. Catalog figures are measured under laboratory conditions and are usually exceeded in everyday driving, so knowing your real consumption under your own conditions is the most reliable way to budget for fuel and to spot developing faults early.

To make sense of the figure you measured, you need a point of comparison. The ranges below summarize the real-world combined-cycle consumption bands of the vehicle segments common in Turkey, along with the thresholds for economical driving.
- Hatchback (B segment, petrol)
- 5.5–7 L/100km
- City cars with 1.0–1.4 liter engines; combined cycle
- Sedan (C-D segment, petrol)
- 6.5–8.5 L/100km
- The diesel version of the same body typically burns 1.5–2 liters less

Formula
Consumption (L/100km) = Liters used / Kilometers driven × 100 Range (km/L) = Kilometers driven / Liters used Example: 45 L / 600 km × 100 = 7.50 L/100km
L/100km and km/L are inverses of each other: km/L = 100 / (L/100km). To convert to MPG (miles per gallon) as used in the United States, apply 235.21 / (L/100km).
How to Calculate
- Fill the tank completely and reset the trip meter.
- Drive as you normally would; covering at least 300-400 km makes the result more reliable.
- Fill the tank again at the same station, up to the point where the pump first shuts off automatically.
- Enter the number of liters taken at the second fill-up and the distance on the trip meter into this calculator.
- Read the consumption per 100 km and the distance covered on one liter; averaging several fill-ups gives the most accurate figure.
Worked Examples
Mixed long-distance driving
A car that covers 600 km on 45 liters of fuel consumes 45 / 600 × 100 = 7.50 L/100km, which means it travels 13.33 km on one liter.

An economical diesel car
A car that burns 6.2 liters over 100 km has a consumption of exactly 6.20 L/100km; its range per liter is 100 / 6.2 = 16.13 km.

An intercity trip on a full tank
For a car that uses 52 liters on an 800 km intercity trip, consumption is 52 / 800 × 100 = 6.50 L/100km and the range is 15.38 km per liter.
